Setting new standards in campaign to advance professional selling

The Institute of Sales Professionals (ISP) is introducing new benchmarks in its campaign to raise skills, knowledge and ethical behaviour across the industry.

The ISP has launched an updated code of conduct, a new ethics exam, and is increasing the exam pass rate from 65 to 85 per cent.

Although it has just got harder for salespeople to pass the exam and appear on our professional register, we have updated our supporting material to guide applicants through the process.

The supporting material includes a new ‘teach-me’ workbook and updated video guides. There are also helpful pointers and further learning for those who don’t manage to pass first time and need support before they apply to retake the test.

The new exam is based on our Fair programme where ISP members pledge to: Follow the rules; provide Appropriate solutions in the best interests of their customers, stakeholders and the organisations they work for; act with Integrity; Raise the bar with continuing professional development.

Mike Gibson, COO of the Institute of Sales Professionals said: “Developing skills, knowledge and ethical behaviour across our industry is a continuous process. As we improve standards, raising the pass mark for our ethics exam is a logical step.

“Customers need to have confidence that they are dealing with expert business people. Passing our exam and appearing on our professional register are the quality marks of sincere salespeople whose business relationships are based on fairness, honesty and reliability.”
